An AI phone desk for plumbers who can't pick up

Plumbing calls don't wait for business hours. A pipe lets go under a sink, a water heater starts leaking into the garage, a toilet backs up the night before a family gathering. The caller is often standing in water. If they reach voicemail, they hang up and keep dialing. First Deploy builds an AI phone desk that answers those calls in your shop's name and gets you the details right away.

Why plumbing calls are different

A plumbing caller usually has a mess in progress. They aren't shopping; they need someone to tell them what to do now and who's coming. That pressure is also why a missed call hurts. The job usually goes to whoever answers first.

Your desk asks the questions you'd ask, in the order that matters:

  • Name and a callback number, read back to confirm
  • The service address
  • What's happening: active leak, burst pipe, no hot water, a backed-up drain, a sewer smell
  • Whether the water is still running, and how soon they need you

Those details reach you right away, so when you look at your phone between jobs, you know which call is a flooded kitchen and which one is a dripping faucet that can wait for a morning visit.

The safety step, in your words

Plenty of plumbing emergencies have a first step the homeowner can take before you get there. Many shops want callers told how to find and shut the main water valve. You decide what that step is and when it applies. The desk gives the safety step you approve, marks the call urgent, and sends it to you right away.

You also set the line between urgent and not. A slow drain at 11 p.m. might be a first-thing-tomorrow call for your shop. A ceiling with water coming through it might not be. Those rules are written into your plan before go-live.

It won't make promises you didn't make

Callers ask "how much to fix a water heater?" and "can you be here in thirty minutes?" By default your desk doesn't quote prices, promise arrival times, offer discounts or hand out your cell number. It says only what you tell it to. If you charge an after-hours call-out fee and want callers to hear it, put it in the script.

The desk opens every call with a recording notice, and if someone asks whether it's a real person, it's set up to say it's an automated assistant for your shop.

Built around your shop

Some plumbers do service and repair only. Some do drain work, water heaters, repipes or new construction. Some don't touch commercial work. Your desk is built to know what you do and don't take, your hours and your service area, so callers outside it get a straight answer instead of a callback that goes nowhere.

You keep your existing number. Forward your line after hours, or when you don't pick up. Setup is remote and works for plumbing shops anywhere in the US.

Tested on hard calls first

Before your customers hear it, we run practice calls against hard callers: the panicked homeowner talking fast, the confused tenant who doesn't know the address format, the angry caller, real emergencies and robocalls. We fix what breaks. After go-live, the $100 a month covers tuning as your real calls come in, and you call the person who built it when something needs to change.

How it works

  1. Hear it. Call (320) 335-6186. Describe a burst pipe or a water heater leak and see what it does.
  2. Write the plan. Greeting, questions, emergency rules, where call details go, go-live date. $250 starts the work.
  3. Build and test. We build it remotely and run practice calls until it handles your calls the way you would.
  4. Go live and tune. Forward your line. Balance due at completion, then $100/mo from go-live.

Price

$500 one-time setup, $250 to start and the balance at completion, or pay in full. $100/mo from go-live, invoiced monthly, cancel any time. One price, on the page. No per-minute meter.

Plumbing questions

What does First Deploy's AI phone desk do for a plumbing business?

It answers your plumbing shop's calls after hours, or when you don't pick up, in your shop's name. It collects the caller's name, callback number, service address, the problem and how urgent it is, and sends you the details right away.

Can the desk tell a caller to shut off their water?

Yes, if you approve it. You write the emergency rules in your plan, including any safety step such as shutting the main water valve. On a matching call, the desk gives that step, marks the call urgent and sends it to you right away.

Will the AI give a price for a plumbing repair?

Not by default. First Deploy's desk does not quote prices, promise arrival times, offer discounts or give out your cell number unless your script tells it to.

Do plumbers have to change their phone number to use First Deploy?

No. You keep your number and forward it to the desk after hours or when you don't answer. Forwarding is walked through during setup.

How much does an AI phone desk for plumbers cost from First Deploy?

$500 one-time setup, with $250 to start and the balance at completion, then $100 a month from go-live. The monthly is invoiced and you can cancel it any time.

Can the desk book plumbing jobs on my calendar?

By default it collects everything you need to book the job. If you want calls booked straight into your calendar, that is scoped in your written plan.
