Will callers know it's an AI?
Yes. Every call opens with a recording notice, and the desk is set up to say it's an automated assistant for your shop if someone asks. Callers get a straight answer, not a runaround.
Do I have to change my phone number?
No. You keep your number and forward it to your desk after hours, or when you don't pick up. We walk you through the forwarding during setup.
What happens on an emergency call?
You decide the rules in the written plan, for example a gas smell, no heat, or water coming through a ceiling. The desk gives the safety step you approve, marks the call urgent, and sends you the details right away.
Can it book appointments?
It collects everything you need to book the job: name, callback number, service address, what's wrong and how soon they need you. If you want calls booked straight into your calendar, we scope that in your written plan.
Will it quote prices or promise a time?
Only what you tell it to say. By default it never quotes a price, promises an arrival time, offers a discount, or gives out your cell.
How long does setup take?
It depends on your script and phone setup. Setup is remote. The go-live date goes in the written plan before work starts, and the balance is due only at completion.
Why not a cheaper do-it-yourself AI receptionist app?
Those can work if you want to write the script, test it and keep tuning it yourself. With First Deploy we do the build, the script, the testing and the tuning, and you can call the person who built it.
